OLYMPUS ~ SUMMER News 2018 ~

HELLO SUMMER! Wow what an amazing sunny June we have had and the pool has been a delightful temperature for a few weeks now … an absolute treat!

We are approaching our end of term and are now working on the swimmer's awards. As we are continually assessing the children within lessons it's important that absence is kept to a minimum to help with continuity and measurable progress. We realise that many of our swimmers have other activities to attend but please do attend whenever possible.
It is important for us to know if you will be continuing onto the next course. Once we know this, we will be able to be open our waiting list during the holiday. Before that however, the new schedule of existing swimmers must be in place. To enable us to plan the appropriate groups we would ask you to let us know asap if you have a preferred swim time for next term. As always, we will do our best to accommodate you and this is not usually a problem unless you delay! 'Last minute dot com' requests are rarely successful!

Staff
There will be a few staff changes going forward. Sadly, we will say goodbye this term to Perry and Gabriella from their permanent teaching posts with us. Both are starting their School Teaching careers this September, so some weekends are taken up with School activities … unfortunately for us!

Happily, both have agreed to cover lessons whenever possible, so I will be holding them to that! We'll miss you both, you have been a joy to have here as part of the team. Caroline will be joining us again since leaving to have her baby Aiden, all is well, and she is looking forward to getting back on poolside for a rest and letting Dad and Baby have a boys afternoon! She will be teaching in the afternoons and taking on the Club at some stage too. Happy to have you back Caroline! Zac who has been helping out this term from 1 o'clock will continue to cover. Mille who joined just recently as an Assistant Teacher in the afternoons will also continue, good to have you with us! Lastly, just a few weeks ago Maisey joined us as a morning helper in the pool and has had a great start! Another Sad goodbye is to Olivia, our cool calm organised face at the desk and sometimes in the pool, we'll miss you Olivia but know that your full time career now takes priority, Good Luck for the future. We hope we have given you a good start with our Olympus training program! Will be in touch and get you back here occasionally!

Important Note.
Parents……. please be aware of a spate of recent "changing room pranks". Lots of clothing finds its way into the showers while swimmers are in the pool! NOT NICE! Once outside the pool door your children are your responsibility. If discovered, I'll have no hesitation excluding children from lessons at Olympus.

Changing rooms: Swimmers should use their designated changing room from the age of 8 unaided. Parents, if you need to assist your child who is younger than 8 please take your little one into the changing room which you would use yourself.
Also, please remember the following: -

ABSOLUTELY NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR FILMING ON OR AROUND THE POOLSIDE IS ALLOWED ON ANY DEVICE.
In addition, please note the following usual reminders.
Parents, could you ensure that children do not sit on the wall whilst watching siblings swim.
Please tie longer hair back or wear a swimming hat. Encourage children to use the loo and blow noses prior to swimming.
Absolutely no running in the changing room areas please and arrive on time for lessons. It's important not to miss the first 5 to 10 minutes of the 'warm up' section of a lesson!

Emergency messages
You may have noticed we are now on Facebook, this is for notifications only so please follow or 'like' us as this will be an additional method of communication in the event of bad weather, other exceptional events, or an unexpected pool closure.
Of course, in any event we will always record an updated phone message which will be available on the Olympus Mobile number and an emergency notice should also be posted on the website opening page. As always, if you have any queries contact us or via the contact details below:
